At the 24th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Ukraine was elected to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time.
The election of Ukraine to the World Heritage Committee opens up new opportunities for the implementation of the Convention. In particular, making a decision on the use of the World Heritage Fund and the inclusion of objects in the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Membership of Ukraine in the Committee opens up new opportunities for the country in implementing the goals of the Convention. One of the most important is making decisions about the use of the World Heritage Fund, which contributes to the financing of projects for the preservation and restoration of world heritage sites. in addition, inclusion of objects, which are under threat, to the World Heritage List becomes an important task for the preservation of valuable objects of cultural heritage.
One of the key tasks for Ukraine as part of the Committee will be active participation in decision-making, aimed at preserving and promoting the country's unique cultural heritage. Such membership opens the door to cooperation with other countries, exchange of experience and best practices in heritage protection.

This election was a confirmation of the importance and value of the cultural heritage of Ukraine for the whole world.

Objects, which can become part of the world heritage list, include unique architectural monuments, ancient cities, archaeological finds and other cultural values. Ukraine's membership in the Committee also opens up additional opportunities for the promotion of ecological and natural heritage. The country is rich in natural resources, unique landscapes and biodiversity. Preservation of nature reserves, national parks and other natural objects is also an important component of the Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
In addition, membership of Ukraine in the World Heritage Committee is an important step in the development of tourism. Unique world heritage sites attract the attention of tourists from all over the world, which contributes to the development of local economies and promotes cultural exchange.
So, election of Ukraine to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee – this is not only an honorable recognition, but also responsibility to the world in preserving and promoting cultural and natural heritage.
