In the morning 11 September Russian troops were attacking the city of Sumy, As a result of which the drone hit the Holy Resurrection Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The blow damaged the facade of the shrine, which is one of the main historical and architectural monuments of the region.
Holy Resurrection Cathedral is the oldest stone building of Sumy and a monument of national importance architecture. It was erected at the end of XVII - early XVIII centuries at the expense of the first Sumy colonels Gerasim and Andrew Kondratiev and was consecrated 1702 year. The temple became the first stone of the city, Cossack Baroque -style made, and since then has been a spiritual and historical symbol of Sumy region.

In the Orthodox Church of Ukraine condemned the attack on the cathedral, calling her “another Russian crime”. They emphasized there, that the firing of the shrine again confirms the falsehood of the aggressor statements about allegedly concern for the church and “Traditional values”.
Destruction and damage to cultural and spiritual monuments is a violation of international law and once again demonstrates the cynical nature of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
